DOURO 2019

Bootles production:

El3mento is born from a partnership between Luís Pedro Cândido da Silva and Carmelo Peña Santana, who, since university, had a dream of putting their two heads together and making wine together.

After 5 years, and many shared ideas, the first El3mento in Douro was born in 2017, from a century-old vineyard at 600 meters of altitude in the Barcos-Tabuaço.

The second element was made in 2019, a dry year in the Douro, with precipitation regulated and when the plant needed it most, thus being a very good agricultural year and with balanced productions.

A spontaneous fermentation, with the whole bunch in Talha de clay, without temperature control and macerated for about 8 months.

A risky process, given the low levels of sulfur dioxide used, which will not be released every year due to its volatility.

The El3mento grapes were harvested on the 23rd of September and placed in the Talha in the same day, with a light foot stomping in order to extract some juice without damaging the stalk and grape seed, staying in Talha until May 21, 2020.

Following a stabilization natural, the wine remained in stainless steel until the 17th of April 2021 when it was bottled without adjustments and without any filtering or gluing
